    On the weekend of June 3rd-5th, Beat the Streets Chicago Sponsored a trip for the Chicago All-Star Team. The Chicago All-Star Team Coaches, David Burchett Sr., Montrele Stokes, and Lloyd Jimenez took 14 wrestlers from Chicago to Troy, New York. CPS wrestlers to Northwestern vs Iowa Meet BTS-Chicago will be busing some CPS wrestling teams to the Northwestern-Iowa dual Friday evening. Wrestlers from Taft, Solario, Juarez, Hyde Park Academy, Kelvyn Park, Roosevelt and Morgan Park will be attending this great match-up! BTS-Chicago Brings CPS Teams to Big 10 Matches at Northwestern

Northwestern Wrestling, in cooperation with BTS-Chicago,has organized the attendance of CPS Wrestling Teams at their home meets in Welsh-Ryan Arena.  Participating teams  receive transportation and tickets to a home meet.  On Jan. 10th the teams from Kenwood Academy and Gary Comer College Prep attended the dual meet between #14 Northwestern and #4 Minnesota. It was special to see Chris and Nick Dardane (Oak Park HS) return to Illinois, along with a replay of last year’s NCAA Championship match at 285Lbs. […]

The Champions Breakfast was held in the Northwestern Football Auditorium prior to the semifinal round at the Midlands Championships featuring Olympians Ben Peterson and Jim Gruenwald.  The audience enjoyed seeing young BTS wrestlers give some demonstrations, receiving  some instruction from Ben and Jim, and then had a chance to see Ben’s Olympic Gold Medal.  The morning concluded with Jim and Ben giving us some insights into their spiritual lives.  Thanks to the Dan Willis family for organizing a tasty breakfast!

Hope Christian Academy hosted a great event on Saturday, December 14th with over 15 teams at their beautiful Quest Athletic Center.  An interesting innovation included a clinic for the athletes after weigh-in.  The clinicians were wrestlers from Greco-Roman Team at the US Olympic Education Training Center Great work Coach Willis and staff at Hope! http://www.nmu.edu/sportsusoec/node/267

The Simeon Wrestling program has a busy December! Their big tournament is Saturday, December 21st.  Wrestling begins at 9am & championships will be at 4:30pm. It is a 20 team varsity tournament with a great mixture of Catholic,  Suburban and top CPS teams.  Last year they had 13 state qualifiers, 4 state place winners, and 9 CPS City place winners compete. It is a premium varsity tournament with medals 1st-5th, fastest pin medal, Monster Trophy for tournament MVP and three team Awards. The […]

BTS-Chicago Establishing New IKWF Clubs

BTS-Chicago has established four new IKWF clubs in November.  The clubs are at St. Sabina Parish, Lindblom Park District, Pequenos Patriotas (Little Patriots) based at Uno Charter High School, and the Chicago Crusaders at Circle Urban Ministry.  Achievements like this are at the crux of the objectives of BTS programs-hooking kids early on the excitement and benefits of wrestling!
