  • New York trip for the BTS Chicago All-Star Team, 2016

    On the weekend of June 3rd-5th, Beat the Streets Chicago Sponsored a trip for the Chicago All-Star Team. The Chicago All-Star Team Coaches, David Burchett Sr., Montrele Stokes, and Lloyd Jimenez took 14 wrestlers from Chicago to Troy, New York. BTS- Chicago provided scholarships to 32 Chicago high school wrestlers for Northwestern University’s Summer Wrestling Camps. The campers attended one of the following: Technique Camp, Intensive Camp, or the Team and Competition Camp. All campers stayed in the dormitories located on Northwestern University’s Evanston Campus. They learned from and interacted with Olympians, World Medalists, and NCAA Champions and All-Americans (Jake Herbert, Matt Gentry, Jay Borschel, Matt Storniolo, and Jason Welch).

BTS-Chicago is seeking interested volunteer coaches to work with the new and expanding programs we are working on.  This is a great opportunity for ex-wrestlers who want to maintain contact with the “world’s oldest and greatest sport.”  We have scheduled a USA Wrestling “Bronze” level certification clinic this fall which will enable participants to coach this upcoming season.  Instructors will be BTS-Chicago Director and USA Gold Level Coach-Dr. David Curby, coach and Olympian-Carmelo Flores, and 3x World Champion Lee Kemp.
