During July’s STEAM Camp, Beat the Streets Chicago kids from all three flagship locations (Midway, Avondale, & Roseland) were out and about exploring the city through a series of hands-on, educational field trips. Campers took mural tours, went kayaking, and visited a local marina where they learned about environmental health and sustainability. These experiences gave them a chance to engage with science, math, and art in real-world settings beyond the classroom. From paddling on the river to analyzing public art, every trip offered a new way to connect learning with their surroundings. It was an unforgettable month of discovery, curiosity, and fun across Chicago.
