Meet BTSC’s Newest Governing Board Members and Leaders

Beat the Streets Chicago is proud to announce Jason Stroiman as the new President of our Governing Board. Reflecting on his commitment, Jason shared, “I serve on the board of Beat the Streets Chicago because I know firsthand what it’s like to grow up with limited resources, and I know how much of a difference it makes when people step in to help… Leading this board is my way of paying it forward, so that young people in Chicago can have the same chance to rise above their circumstances and discover what they’re capable of.” His story captures the heart of our mission—using wrestling to teach resilience, discipline, and self-belief. We’re excited for his leadership as we continue empowering Chicago’s youth on and off the mat.

We are also proud to welcome Erica Berning as a new member of our Governing Board. Erica shared, “Life is not always a cakewalk for children, and some have a far harder journey than others. Sports, a team, and coaches can help combat the tough times. If it wasn’t for athletics, my journey could have looked a lot different. This is why I am beyond honored to be named to the board for Beat the Streets Chicago. I promise to help grow this organization so we can deeply impact the youth of Chicago and make sure no matter their story, they have a chance at a prosperous future.”

We’re deeply grateful to have both Jason and Erica on our Governing Board—their leadership, compassion, and lived experience strengthen our mission and the community we serve.
